Mother Goose Story Time is for children ages 6 months up to 4 years old. Children will learn nursery rhymes, sing songs, and do finger play. Older siblings may come along, and no reservations are required!
Join us each Wednesday in September at 10 am.
Toddler story time is for children who are under 3. Normally, a parent or guardian accompanies the child into the story room. The session is meant to last 20 – 30 minutes. One or two books are used, a few nursery rhymes, and a coloring sheet or simple craft. The child may sometimes need some help with the craft.
Pre-registration is required. Call 724-658-6659, ext. 106.
Toddler Story Time will resume September 21 at 10 am.
Pre-school story time is meant for children ages 3-5 who have had more experience in a group setting. They may be more likely to interact with the storyteller. The parent may stay with their child or if the child feels comfortable, the parent may take that time to browse for books. This story time session is meant to last 30-45 minutes. The librarian may use more than 2 books, and ask and expect more conversation from the children. A short film (less than 10 minutes) will be shown, as well. The child will make a craft and should be able to work more independently to finish it. Please remember that all children are unique and develop at their own pace.
Pre-School Story Time will resume September 23 at 10 am.
New Castle Public Library is a proud participant in the nationwide network of
Family Place Libraries™.
What is a Family Place Library?
New Castle Public Library has designed programs for parents of young children (birth to 3 years of age).
Programs emphasize play, creative activity, and development of skills that will help children as they reach school age.
The assistance of community professionals experienced in the fields of child development is a major component of the programming offered.
Components of a Family Place Library
* A five week series of programs for children and parents from birth to 3 years of age
* An area where parents can relax with children and explore activities to engage & stimulate children
* A collection of books, periodicals and videos located in the Junior Department to assist in parenting
* A collaboration with outside agencies to provide assistance to children and families
Please call 724-658-6659, ext 106 to find out when the next workshop will be held.
