Stitching Stories: West African Clothing Design with Ansumana Komba Gbembo

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon with Ansumana Komba Gbembo, a master tailor from Sierra Leone, who brings a wealth of cultural richness and artistic skill to our community. Ansumana is not only a skilled tailor but also a captivating storyteller. His lively presentations at middle and high schools have left audiences enchanted.

During this special library program, Ansumana will share his stories and insights into African clothing traditions. As he engages with the audience, he will demonstrate his craftsmanship by sewing custom-made hats or shirts on the spot, offering a firsthand look into the artistry and cultural importance of these garments.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to meet Ansumana, learn about African culture through the lens of clothing, and witness his talents firsthand. This program is perfect for teens interested in art, culture, and the fascinating stories behind traditional crafts.
